The phenomenon in which a surface is worn away by friction or polishing called abrasion. A material that is resistant to wear is said to have high wear resistance.
To improve wear resistance, it is necessary to take measures against frictional force, which is the cause of wear, and there are three main approaches
(1) To reduce the amount of wear by making the material harder.
(2) Make the surface less susceptible to frictional forces (lower the coefficient of friction).
(3) Reduce the frictional force inside the material.
